PTSD Facts & Myths

Myth - Only soldiers experience PTSD.

Fact - PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) isn’t limited to those who serve in the military. Trauma can stem from a wider, sometimes less obvious place of origin:

·      Witnessing any kind of violence

·      Death of a loved one

·      Living in an unsafe environment

·      Serious accidents or medical procedures

·      Relationship with a mentally/emotionally/physically abusive person

·      Being constantly put down or shamed by a parent figure

·      Growing up in an oppressive environment

·      Being a caregiver
